On this day in 1970, Diana Ross & The Supremes gave their farewell performance at the Frontiers Hotel in Las Vegas, closing with their 12th #1 hit, “Someday We’ll Be Together”

Fun facts: 

The “Someday” single included lead vocals by Ross, and background vocals from Motown studio session singers, The Andantes. The Supremes – Mary Wilson, Cindy Birdsong and Florence Ballard (who left the group in 1967 and died in 1974) – were no longer used in recording sessions.

After the split, the Supremes would go on to record without Ross. Their first single  “Up the Ladder to the Roof” was a Top-Ten hit, while Miss Ross’ first single “Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand” stalled at #21.

Diana, Mary & Cindy would reunite, briefly and disastrously, during the taping of the 1983 “Motown 25" special. Memorable for two reasons: Ross allegedly shoving Wilson on stage (edited out) and Michael Jackson moonwalking in public for the first time.

In 2000, Wilson and Birdsong reportedly turned down $3 million and $1 million, respectively, to reunite on Ross' “Return To Love" tour.  Lesser known ‘70s Supremes performed with Ross (for the first time) and the tour was a bust.

Oh, and Diana Ross' biggest fan and music video co-star, RuPaul, premieres on RuPaul's Drag Race, February 2 on Logo.

I ran across the list of the Top 100 TV Shows of All Time. As a true TV junkie, I'm proud to say I've watched 5 of the Top 10 shows.  The other 5 are Super Bowls. So, if you count the halftime show and the commercials, I've probably watched those, too. 

Amazing Fact:  The "Beverly Hillbillies" has 16 episodes in the Top 100.   Well, hoooooow-deee!
