This one's for you, JSJ. Mark-Paul Gosselaar was on Conan last week and the interview is action packed including the knuckle at 2:15 and (shaved) calves at 7:49.
"Bi-Bardon
Vitreous China, 32" x 34" x 14", 2001
The Bi-Bardon is a Siamese urinal. Within the history of classical and modern design, specific references to an idealized body can be found in instances such as symmetry and whiteness. By grafting the imagery of an anomalous body onto a white and symmetrical plumbing fixture, a boundary is crossed into the uncanny." (alexschweder.com)

Gaga ends deal with Target thanks to sites like Gays Against Gaga (GAG). These guys are good!
"Some gay guys are really, really fucking stupid."
Of course Gaga doesn’t represent every LGBT member, like how Lea Salonga doesn’t represnt every Asian, how Aretha Franklin doesn’t represent every African American or how Selina didn’t represent every Latino.
Yet a huge portion of those audiences loved those artists and identifying with them, so stop people the only ones saying how Gaga represents all the gays and then bitching cause she ~doesn’t represent~ your ever so interesting life. ---louderthanbombs
RESPONSE
Dylan,
You might have a point if the arguments presented on this blog were only about representation. Obviously no one entertainer can represent a group as diverse as LGBT people.
Some of the arguments we’ve shared included that she’s 1) marketing herself as an advocate while exploiting LGBT people on behalf of massive evil corporations who support anti-gay, anti-worker politicians 2) using racially insensitive language in ways that perpetuate harmful stereotypes and inequality 3) presenting herself as an artistic innovator when her work is often deriviative, superficial, and/or vapid 4) perpetuating cultural hegemony and crowding out the voices of independent critical and alternative perspectives that gay culture thrives on.
I don’t think you’re stupid for liking her. She’s a very charismatic performer, and she’s got an incredible voice. I understand especially how important it is to have a musical hero you relate to when you’re 18. But if you’re gonna call us “really fucking stupid”, you probably should at least address what we’re actually saying, y’know? (http://gaysagainstgaga.tumblr.com/)
