Grace hits theaters in LA & NY (Laemmle Sunset 5 & Village East Cinema) today for a limited engagement. The controversial film has been leaving a trail of fainting audience members. It seems that men are passing out at screenings due to the film's disturbing content. The story centers around an eight months pregnant woman (Jordan Ladd), who is involved in an accident that leaves her baby dead inside. The woman insists on carrying the baby to term. When the woman finally delivers, the baby returns to life....
DirectorPaul Solet, Jordan Ladd and Producer Adam Green will be on hand at Laemmle Sunset 5 in Hollywood for Intros & Q&As (7:40 PM and 9:55 PM screenings) Come see what all the fuss is about and to maybe faint!
Back in 2007, the British Duo The Mitchell Brothers and Calvin Harris paid homage to the pop star with the song "Michael Jackson." I felt this was a fitting tribute.
Last evening, Brüno (Sacha Baron Cohen) made a Gay-rand red carpet entrance riding atop an huge glittered army tank for the Hollywood premiere of his film Brüno at Grauman's Chinese Theater. The flamboyant "Austrian fashion reporter" was accompanied by a marching band of military-clad models. His first words to the crowd were, “What’s up LA, what’s up Los Angeles! This is the most powerful documentary since The Lion King!” Sacha’s wife Isla Fisher (Confessions of a Shopaholic) attended the event. Other celebs I spotted: Jonah Hill (Super Bad), Oscar Nunez (The Office), and the sexy Alexander Skarsgard (Erik from True Blood). It was nice distraction from such a sad day.
Once upon a time... a 16 year old Christina Ricci played LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD in Dave Kaplan's provocative short film.Narrated by the late Quentin Crisp, the surrealistic film combines adult fiction and childhood fairytale in beautiful black and white photography with expressionistic set design. The film's look and feel owes much to the work of Jean Cocteau (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST AKA La belle et la bete 1946). The story is taken from the original folklore tale and not Charles Perrault's 1697 tale "Le Petit Chaperon Rouge".
The DVD "LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND OTHER STORIES" hits shelves today (unavailable on video until now) from Malaprop Productions.
Those flamboyant Aussie boys Empire of the Sun are back with another gorgeous video – "Standing on the Shore." This cinematic piece was shot in the northern parts of Perth, Western Australia, the most isolated city in the world.
Camera Obscura is back with a new single and video "French Navy" from their fourth album "My Maudlin Career". This song makes me happy. I hope it makes you happy too.
Calvin Harris is back with the new video "I'm Not Alone" directed by Christian Holm-Glad.
You may have never heard his 80s influenced Electroclash music but chances are you have seen his face wearing the "fly eyes" glasses on all those Ipod Shuffle ads(with the different color paint dripping).
The single will be available digitally from 5th April and the CD will be in-store from 13th April.
In reverence of this inauspicious date and the re-imagining of the classic Friday the 13th movie, I give you the extra cheesey "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask)" video, featuring everybody's favorite Christian, Republican, Golpher, Shockrocker... Alice Cooper! This little "gem" is from the sixth Friday the 13th film Jason Lives!
Chris Lilley is one of the hottest comics to come out of Sydney, Australia. His latest show, Summer Heights High, caused a ratings sensation in his native country and has now found its way to the USA (by way of HBO).
Lilley has the ability to totally lose himself completely into three hilarious and self-absorbed characters: drama teacher Mr. G, private school girl Ja'mie King, and the disobedient delinquent Jonah Takalua. The popular show has had its fair share of controversy back in Australia. In one episode, a student’s death from a drug overdose inspires flamboyant drama teacher Mr G to write a high school musical about the incident. Another featured Mr G’s inappropriate “touching” of a boy with Down syndrome.
I haven’t laughed this hard in ages! If you love Strangers with Candy, Waiting for Guffman, Arrested Development, and Little Britain, then this might be the show for you!
The eight-episode series will be released on DVD February 24.
