Thoroughly modern minister Jay Bakker (subject of World of Wonder's documentaryOne Punk, Under God) is always trying to get motivational Christian huckster Joel Osteen to get with the gays. Last week, Bakker flew to Houston to celebrate the memory of his mother, Tammy Faye Messner, and to meet with the Lakewood Church pastor. Although Osteen was gracious, agreeing to seat Bakker and his posse of gay activists at his sermon and making time to meet with Bakker afterward, he remains steadfastly anti-gay. "I don’t think homosexuality is a sin, and they do," Bakker said of the Lakewood Church crowd, "but it was very nice of Joel to introduce me to his family. I met Joel’s wife and mother, and they were just great. I’m really grateful." But he'll keep trying. (Queerty)
