Meth PedalersWednesday, August 17, 2005 03:32 AM tags: Pop Culture
Police in Canada are finding their parks littered with bicycles and bike parts. Seems that meth heads are drawn to and fascinated by the chains and gears and pedals and spokes. Meth users, losing brain cells by the second, need to keep active, to be stimulated inanely, and are attracted to menial repetitive tasks like, say, making crystal meth. It makes them a nightmare to be around, but such rich material for novels and movies. "They sit in the bush with hundreds of parts just fiddling with them all day," said a constable. "For some reason, they find fiddling with bike parts satisfies that need for stimulation." Of course, no good ever comes of it, no bike is ever reassembled and used to ride off into rehab. Perhaps they should get into blogging. (Canada.com via BoingBoing)
