THE DAILY FREAK SHOW: JAMES ST JAMES INTERVIEWS THE GO-GO'SFriday, August 12, 2011 09:58 AM tags: Belinda Carlisle, Brendan Mullen, Daily Freak Show, Darby Crash, exene cervenka, James Duke Mason, james st. james, jane wiedlin, Michael Lucid, peter ivers, Thairin Smothers, the germs, the go go's, the masque
Yesterday, The Go-Go's received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame right outside the WOW building, which also happens to be the location of the legendary club The Masque, where the band first performed, in 1978. James St. James was on hand to interview the ladies and take them on a tour of the old Masque, which is still in WOW's basement. Here the band reminisces about their early days, sharing anecdotes about Darby Crash of The Germs, The Masque's founder Brendan Mullen, their old friend Peter Ivers of New Wave Theater and his unsolved murder, Exene Cervenka, and more. Plus, Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin point out the "Go-Go's" graffiti they left on the wall back in '78 – and even add some brand-new graffiti before they leave! James also gets to chat with Belinda Carlisle's super-cute gay activist son, James Duke Mason. Subscribe to "Daily Freak Show" on YouTube.
