'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' a Real Turn-Off for ActorsWednesday, December 22, 2010 11:56 AM
Christopher Tierney, the actor who fell 30 feet during Monday's preview performance of Julie Taymor's $65 million Spider-Man musicatastrophe when his suspension cable snapped, suffered broken ribs and is currently hospitalized in serious condition. Earlier in previews, an actress was concussed when she was struck backstage by a weighted rope, and in another accident an actor had both his wrists broken. Still, the show goes on. The New York State Department of Labor has opened a second investigation into the goings-on, and New York actors, venting their protest on Twitter, are concerned that it's going to take a death to stop the insanity. Rent's Adam Pascal pretty much sums up the consensus when he says: "They should put Julie Taymor in jail for assault! I hope [Tierney] is ok and sues the shit out of Julie, Bono, Edge and every other asshole who invested in that steaming pile of actor-crippling shit!" (via Cinematical)
