Serena at Wimbledon 2008

Serena Williams powered her way through the Australian Open to win her 12th Grand Slam title, matching the legendary Billie Jean King’s record. Serena won her 5th Australian Open by defeating a reinvigorated Justine Henin who recently returned from a 20-month retirement and managed to make it all the way back to the finals of a grand slam tournament. It was a thrilling 3 set match but ultimately Serena’s powerful serve and physical prowess could not be denied. Serena, along with her sister Venus, also won the Australian Open Doubles title.
