It's Like the Sex Pistols SaidMonday, November 09, 2009 03:54 PM
A New Zealand firm is using an image of Paris Hilton with her mouth in the party position to sell space on its empty billboards. The word "Vacant" is emblazoned in giant letters across her chin. Hilton is uncharacteristically upset over the unexpected exposure and her Los Angeles manager Jamie Freed says the billboard company Media5 had no permission to use her face. With that Woody Allen vs American Apparel lawsuit hovering over the issue and Hilton lawyers looming, Media5's Adam McGregor said he was "just having a bit of fun. We wanted to draw some attention to some of our unsold display as we expanded, so we briefed a friend who runs his own boutique agency to work up a range of creative concepts. We liked the ones he came up with using high-profile public figures the best because they were fun. Paris ... has a proven ability to laugh at herself. We assume that the agency has taken care of the rights to the image of Paris, but we will ask the question." Looking again at the billboard, we think Paris perhaps should be more concerned about "Available now" than "Vacant." (via Popcrunch)
