Getting Big-HeadedWednesday, October 07, 2009 05:20 AM
Looks like Ralph Lauren is headed into a net-fight with a couple of my favorite sites. Recently, a Ralph Lauren ad that I'm really hoping was photoshopped caught the attention of the team at Photoshop Disasters. They had a quick slag-off at this heavy-handedness in thinning out an obviously already perfectly physiqued model and it got picked up by the genius that is Boing Boing. Boing Boing then got threatened with nasty legal shit and now the Huffington Post has waded in on the whole thing reporting that "Instead of addressing this disturbing and accurate criticism, Ralph Lauren responded by accusing Boing Boing of copyright infringement for reprinting the ad. Even though, as Boing Boing points out, this is "classic fair use: a reproduction 'for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting.'" Perhaps this is one of those times when holding the hands up and admitting they were in the wrong might've been a simpler solution. Either that or produce this freak woman from whatever starvation cell they've got her in and prove it's a legit pic (ha!). All that said, I love RL and so if anyone wants to send me a bunch of their clothes, I'll totally turncoat. I look good in a suit... Just saying. Also... I would totally nail that.
