Conservative Republican Joe Bruno, former New York Senate Majority Leader and a longtime fixture in the New York political establishment who still holds considerable influence, says he now supports full marriage equality for gay couples! “As a relatively conservative Roman Catholic, I instinctively view marriage as the foundation of the family. However, that view really does conflict with the rights that are afforded all of us. This is America and we have inalienable rights … Life is short and we should all be afforded the same opportunities and rights to enjoy it.” Wow! Joe Bruno is now more supportive of gay marriage than some Democrats I could name. Talk about strange bedfellows! (via Pam'sHouseBlend)
