Best News for the GaysTuesday, March 24, 2009 08:19 AM
In the casting coup of a lifetime that will draw upon her glamour from The Devil Wears Prada, her drug-mess performance in Rachel Getting Married, and her lovely singing with Hugh Jackman at the Oscars, Anne Hathaway will be portraying tragic gay icon Judy Garland on both stage and screen in two adaptations of Gerald Clarke's biography Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland. Looks like a sweet deal for Hathaway. The Weinstein Company is producing both vehicles, and the film adaptation of Clarke's other bio, Capote, you'll remember, scored Philip Seymour Hoffman a best-actor Oscar. (LAT)
