About Last Night: RuPaul's Drag Race Art OpeningFriday, January 16, 2009 11:01 AM tags: Celebrity, RuPaul's Drag Race, RuPaul's Drag Race art show, World of Wonder Storefront Gallery
After last night's gala opening reception for the "RuPaul's Drag Race" art show, it's official that the World of Wonder Storefront Gallery is now unarguably the hippest in town, combining art 'n' alcohol, music, soft lighting, video, souvenirs, and the best-looking crowd in Hollywood. Eleven hundred people RSVPed to the event and more than that number turned up, in droves and in drag. It became a Fire Marshall event. The never-ending line along Cherokee Avenue was three-abreast and a wonder to behold. Before the photos come in (even photographers need to sleep it off), we have some stats that Fenton Bailey jotted down during the fray. Perez Hilton: turned away, got in later Benji Madden and Joel Madden: could not get in Rachel Hunter: didn't get in Patricia Field: turned away, hung out in parking lot where RuPaul was holding court with the head of Logo, Dave Mace That's right: RuPaul couldn't get in to his own party. Plus: Charo, Santino Rice, Merle Ginsberg, Guillermo Diaz from Weeds, Marsha Thomason, Howard Bragman, Judy Tenuta, Daniel Franzese, James St James, drag legends Constance Cooper and Alexis Del Lago, Bobby Trendy, Andrae Gonzalo, fabled Area doorman Gilbert Stafford, and eight drag queen contestants from the RuPaul's Drag Race reality show on Logo. The art show is up until February 7 for those who didn't get a chance to see it. Oh. Wait. Some photos did come in. They're from Jamie Kricker and we've put them in a slideshow up there.
