Dame Edna Launches Limited-Edition Line with MAC Cosmetics

RuPaul became the world's first drag queen supermodel when she signed on as "the MAC girl" for MAC Cosmetics back in 1995. Now, fourteen years later, MAC has chosen another unusual spokeswoman to market their makeup.

I was absolutely tickled pink when I came across the MAC counter in Dublin airport to find Dame Edna Everidge's just-launched line of colorful cosmetics. Realizing that our home emergency drag queen makeup box is dangerously low on supplies, I nearly purchased Dame Edna's kit right then and there, but I had no room left in my luggage and I thought I'd be able to find Dame Edna at MAC back home in Hollywood. Happily, I was correct... it seems the line debuted at the end of December in North America and is available worldwide at all MAC locations as of January 2009.

Available items in the Dame Edna line include two eyeshadow packages: "Royal Tour Eye Trio" and "Wisteria Eye Trio," three lipsticks in shades: "Kanga Rouge," "Coral Polyp," and "Gladiola," three shades of lip gloss, too, as well as a High-Light Powder compact featuring an embossed "Dame Edna" signature in gold. There are also two delightfully named shades of nail lacquer, "Varicose Violet" and "Asiatique."
